Mariss Jansons is especially attuned to Russian music. He is most at
home in the scores of Tchaikovsky and Shostakovitch, but also has affinity for
Sibelius and Mahler. Jansons has made most of his recordings with the Oslo Philharmonic
during his tenure there, but also appears with the Berlin Philharmonic and the
Philharmonia Orchestra. He recently became music director of the Royal
Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, an orchestra that communicates his repertoire
quite well.
